This intro class is perfect for anyone who wants to start practicing Ashtanga Yoga in a small class environment. We still haven’t found a super-easy way to describe precisely what Ashtanga Yoga is, but the closest we have come is this: it is an active practice, meant to be done regularly, that will strengthen the body, mind, and spirit. This class is meant for folks who are brand new to the practice of Ashtanga Yoga, or perhaps have never done yoga at all. Check it out!
This class is taught in person at BSGT by Jaytaun MacMillan. It is a one hour long class, a basic level class that will also include small amounts of yoga philosophy.
Jaytaun Mcmillan is a wellness leader and yoga and meditation instructor/student and entrepreneur from Queens, NY. He uses the practice of yoga to cultivate inner freedom within himself. He has spent the last 10 years building programs to serve communities that have minimum access to yoga and meditation through the non-profit he co-created, Urban Yogis. He has traveled throughout the world connecting with different communities and cultures to raise awareness, taking a conscious approach to transform humanity . He studies with and is mentored by Eddie Stern and Dr. Deepak Chopra, who are both great teachers and practitioners in the wellness space. The following quote from Dr. Chopra resonates with my feelings on yoga: “What I appreciate about yoga so much is the word its self means yoke which also means to unite.we all should work towards union that is true liberation. But first we must become one with ourselves our breaths our bodies our minds.”
